Strawberries…these cute berries could be all that you could imagine from a yummy dessert to an elegant garnish, a gift idea or maybe a classic homemade jam ingredient. Apart from its sweet-sour fruity flavor, strawberries have forever ruled the hearts of kids and adults alike. 

Yes! It’s an elegant flavor option to enhance anything from a humble vanilla ice cream to a multiple course meal, but did you know that strawberries could also be a major part of your skin and hair care regime?

No? 

Well, strawberries are infused with a boost of vitamin C and it is enriched with silica, which means it is awesome for your skin and hair. Strawberries also help in preventing baldness and treats split ends while repairing damaged hair. 

When it comes to your skin, strawberries could be your new BFF because it can thoroughly cleanse your skin, treat acne, blackheads, whiteheads and blemishes, fights against signs of ageing, exfoliates skin naturally and the list goes on and on. 

So, let’s check out a few easy DIYs that you could include in your skin and hair care regime. 

Strawberry and rice flour 

Like mentioned earlier, strawberries are packed with Vitamin C which makes it your skin’s buddy naturally. Whereas, rice contains allantoin and ferulic acid…confusing? Well, these two agents help in protecting your skin from skin damage and it also helps in reducing suntan. Rice flour or rice water deeply nourishes your skin. 

Ingredients:

  • 2-3 strawberries
  • 1 tbsp rice flour

 Blend the strawberries to make a paste and add the rice flour. Mix well and apply the paste all over your and leave it on for 15 minutes. Rinse of with cold water. 

Strawberry and cucumber 

DIY skin regimes feel incomplete until someone adds in a little cucumber! As clichéd as it sounds, cucumbers are actually a wonder veggie that work amazingly well as a moisturizing and refreshing agent. It contains ascorbic acid and caffeic acid which help in soothing inflamed, irritated, heated skin instantly. Cucumbers contain natural antioxidants that help in fighting against free radical damage and also cleanse the skin due to high water content. 

Ingredients:

  • 1 ripe strawberry
  • 3-4 cucumber slices (peeled) 

Blend both the ingredients and make a smooth paste. Refrigerate for an hour and apply this pack all over your face and neck. Leave it on until dries and rinse off with cold water. Don’t forget to apply some moisturizer or serum later. 

Strawberry and aloe vera 

Aloe there! How could we even forget the good old aloe vera when it comes to home remedies and skin care. Aloe vera as we know, nourishes the skin and fights against ageing. It retains the elasticity of your skin and makes it firm and youthful. 

Ingredients:

1 ripe strawberry

1 tbsp aloe vera pulp 

Mash both the ingredients in a bowl until they mix well and form a paste. Now apply this all over your face and massage well for at least 10 minutes. Leave it on for some time and then rinse off. 

Strawberry and banana 

The best thing about this mask is that you can use it both for your skin and hair (and maybe slurp it up if you’re hungry). Bananas are rich in potassium and Vitamins E and C which help in providing clear glowing skin. It also helps in conditioning your hair and gives it a natural shine. 

Ingredients:

  • 1-2 ripe strawberries (add more if you’re using for your hair)
  • ½ banana (add one full if you’re using for your hair) 

Take the ingredients and mash them together. If you’re prepping this for your hair, then make sure your blend it instead of mashing. Once your paste is ready, apply it all over your face and neck and leave it on for 15-20 mins. In case of your hair, leave it on for at least half and hour. Rinse off with cold water and follow up with a mild shampoo. 

Strawberry and coconut oil

Coconut oil is the ingredient that is your Nani’s favorite thing in the whole wide world. From paper cuts to dandruff to pregnancy, this is one ingredient that every generation agrees to, so how could we stay behind? 

Coconut oil helps in preventing hair damage and it nourishes the scalp and boosts hair growth. It is rich in Vitamin E and antioxidants which makes your hair strong and healthy. 

Ingredients:

  • 5-7 strawberries
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil 

Blend both the ingredients and make a puree. Dampen your hair with cold water and apply the puree on your scalp and work it out through the length. Leave it on for 15-20 mins and rinse off with lukewarm water. For best results, avoid shampoo on the same day. You can use a mild shampoo and conditioner on the next day.
