Makeup Mistakes to avoid

Makeup! Oh, this very word gives so much joy, happiness and imagination! Makeup is something that can elevate any face structure when done correctly and at the same time ruin your entire game if you don’t know what you are doing.

While makeup does not have any rule book and you can play around as much as you want, it is always wise to understand the wrong ways and mistakes that you must avoid at all times. So, we are here to help you on understanding what are the major red flags you need to avoid while you are exploring your creativity with makeup.

Rule No. 1

The first and foremost rule in makeup is to maintain hygiene and cleanliness. You must make sure all your tools like brushes and blenders are clean every time you apply makeup with them. Your brushes and blenders need to be washed at least once a week if you use it on a daily basis. You can use your face wash to clean your tools, or you can even get a brush cleaner available in the market. In case you are planning to use your tools on someone else, then cleansing is extremely crucial no matter how well you cleaned your tools day before yesterday. Ensuring the use of clean tools on your skin helps in preventing skin allergies, rashes and pimples.

Rule No. 2

The quality of your makeup matters a lot. Old and expired products will not only irritate your skin, but it might also damage your skin permanently. It is advisable to pay attention to the expiry dates of products you have in your vanity. We know how heart breaking it is to dispose off a makeup product that isn’t completely over, but it is always safer than sorry! This rule applies to all your makeup products as well as your skincare products.

Rule No. 3

Choosing the right shade! This rule is very important because this decides on how your look is going to turn out overall. It is high time to ditch the idea of picking products a shade or two lighter than your skin tone. Your makeup will look artificial and the product you have applied will slowly oxidize in the presence of air, to give you a strange grayish complexion. So, make sure you are picking your foundation and your concealer according to your skin type.

Rule No. 4

Don’t forget your neck! This rule is that one step that everyone tends to miss out on! Make sure you don’t miss out on your neck and ears while you are doing your base makeup. This will give your entire look an even-toned finish. Or else, your face color and your neck color will not match, making you look fake or overdone.

Rule No. 5

If you are using a beauty blender, then make sure you always wet it. All you need to do is dunk your beauty blender in water and let it soak in all the water. Then squeeze out all the excess water until your blender feels damp and fluffy. This will help you in blending your makeup smoothly with maximum product deposition on your skin.

A dry beauty blender is not only wrong to use but it is also extremely hard and dry. This means that your skin will get hurt or mildly bruised with it, and its dryness with soak in all the product. So, make sure you always use a wet beauty blender.

Rule No. 6

Be gentle! No matter how late you are getting, be gentle on your skin. It is okay to skip on your makeup on those rushed days, but it isn’t okay to go rough on your skin. Also, make sure you are being gentle on the product selections as well. Avoid going over the board and pick a ton of products. Keep it simple and minimal, this will enhance your entire look perfectly.

Rule No. 7

Don’t skip your skincare! This is the most important step not only for your skin’s health but also for your makeup to look perfect. Your skincare regime before your makeup must include cleansing, toning, moisturizing followed by your primer. These steps will hydrate you skin from within and give your makeup a flawless finish.

Skin the isn’t well-prepped results in patchy and dry makeup resulting in irritated skin. So, make sure your skin care regime before makeup is always complete.

Rule No. 8

Playing around with makeup is fine as long as you are cleaning your face after it. Make sure you always cleanse your make up once your day is over. The best way to clean your make up is by double cleansing. Double cleansing requires removing your make up with a micellar water and then cleansing it again with a mild face wash. This will make sure that your make up is completely off your skin. Follow this cleansing routine with a good moisturizer or a serum.

Now that you are aware of all the makeup mistakes we hope that your make up is always flawless and beautiful!
